Description:

Cocoma (also spelled Cocama) is a language which is spoken by the demographically and historically dominant indigenous people of the northeastern region Peru Amazonia: the lower Ucayali, lower Maraᅢᄆon and lower Huallaga rivers basins. It is also spoken in Brazil and Colombia. In Peru, Cocama-Cocamilla is classified in the Tupi group of the Tupi-Guarani language subfamily.

Cocama-Cocamilla has thousands of speakers in its associated indigenous ethnic groups in Peru Amazonia, 200 in Brazil, and less than 100 in Colombia.
