Kamayo is a minor language spoken in the area of Bislig City and also in San Agustin and Marihatag, Surigao del Sur, in the Southern Philippines. It has 7,565 speakers (2000, WCD). The dialect known as "kamayo" varies from one municipality to another - Lingiganons are quite different from other municipalities on the way they speak the Kamayo language.
Kamayo is also spoken in Lingig, Surigao del Sur; and in Cateel,Baganga,Caraga Davao Oriental. It is related to Surigaonon and Butuanon.
Most Bisliganons speak Kamayo and it is widely spoken. Kamayo is a native language spoken and understood mostly from Lianga to Lingig in Surigao del Sur. Dialect variations are caused by mixed dialect communications between the Manobo and immigrants now living in the area. The Visayan Spoken Dialect has a distinct version spoken in Mangagoy, Bislig, Barobo, Hinatuan, and Lingig. A prefix is added in most adjectives.
